Enjoy the Exotic: Honeymoon in the Caribbean

A honeymoon is a time of celebration when newlyweds relax and allow the stress of planning the wedding ceremony to evaporate as they look forward to their life together.  Usually, honeymoons are taken far away from home in an exotic and exciting location.  The Caribbean is a favorite place for newlyweds, which is easy to understand given the scenery, secluded beaches, and calm, relaxing ocean views.

The Beautiful Guana Island

Guana Island is a beautiful place to have a Caribbean honeymoon. The entire island is privately owned and usually no more than 32 guests are allowed on the island at any given time. Accommodations tend to be available from early November to late August where you would be lodging in one of their handsome hilltop cottages that over-look the cerulean sea.

There are more private accommodations available in the North Beach Cottage, which offers its own kitchen, a living room, and a private pool, making it the ideal place for a romantic getaway.  You can also enjoy the use of tennis facilities, small sailboats, and equipment for windsurfing and snorkeling.  There are over 850 acres to explore, with 7 beaches, and some beautiful trails and hiking routes on the island.  Considering there are only ever 32 guests on the island at one time, you would be hard pressed to find a better place for a quiet romantic holiday.

Golfing in Jamaica

Jamaica can be another great place to take a Caribbean honeymoon, offering options for stimulating excitement or tranquil relaxation at any number of fine resorts or private villas. Wyndham Rose Hall Resort can provide a particularly peaceful getaway for the newlywed couple with fun in the sun on their mind. Sugar Mills Falls is a lovely water complex that boasts tumbling waterfalls, lagoons to drift and relax in, a swim-up bar, three terraced pools, a lazy river and more where you can enjoy the warmth and companionship of your new marriage.

If you enjoy golf, you may want to try the 18-hole championship level difficulty golf course.  After enjoying a round of golf, you can sample some wonderful restaurants, or explore the shops on the island, which have something to offer almost everyone.

Diving and Snorkeling in The Cayman Islands

If you are interested in marine life in the Caribbean, then the Cayman islands offer a great place for diving and snorkeling, as well as sailing. The Cayman Islands are a small chain of islands south of Florida, and the are renowned for their beautiful beaches and clear seas, which offer a great view and some of the most breathtaking snorkeling and diving areas in the Caribbean.  Unlike most other islands, the focus here is on the ocean and the beaches, instead of nightlife and entertainment.  If you prefer nature to glitz and glamour, consider the Cayman islands for your Caribbean honeymoon.

Sample The History of Aruba

Aruba's culturally diverse background can make this island an excellent place for the historically minded couple taking a Caribbean honeymoon. The island was originally by a tribe of Indians from Venezuela called the Arawak. Many places in Aruba still have their original Indian names and many of the Aruban people still echo the faces of their native ancestors. Stopping by the Archaeology Museum in Oranjestad to take a peek at a collection of Indian artifacts might be on the honeymoon to-do list or if you tire of being in town and want some quality alone-time with your honey, head out to the countryside to take in the vibrant, wild beauty of the island.

If you would like to take in a gorgeous view of the city, then climb to the top of Hooiberg.  The hill is 541 feet tall, and the climb consists of 562 steps.  If that sounds like far too much effort, then take a look at Ayo and Casibari – where you can view some ancient beatiful paintings and natural carvings.
